BALOGH, John Andrew, 78, of Brooksville, FL passed away October 16, 2013 at The Gulfside Center for Hospice Care in Zeph-yrhills, Florida. He was born in Detroit, Michigan July 15, 1935, to John (Jack) Balogh and Julia Nemeth Balogh. He graduated from Plymouth High School in Plymouth, Michigan, where he was a track star and cross country runner all four years. He married Ellen Jeanne Eldridge in 1953 and moved his growing family to Florida in 1959. An employee of Continental Can Company of Tampa for 35 years, he was also a flight instructor, served as a captain in the Civil Air Patrol, and as a baseball coach and umpire. Though gifted athletically, musically and artistically, John made raising and supporting his family his primary focus for many years. He was a devoted fan of all activities involving his children and later his grandchildren, a vocally enthusiastic spectator of baseball, basketball, tennis, and band events. He is survived by seven children: Bill (Beth), Randall, John (Valerie), Chuck (Tammy), Evelyn Ansley (Jon), Glenn (Vicki), and Sharon Snyder (Buddy), 25 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Ellen, his beloved wife of 45 years, a sister in Michigan, Rose Ficyk, and two grandchildren. A memorial service officiated by Rev. Carl Brown will be held in his honor on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Brooksville following visitation at 10:30. TurnerFH/352-796-9661.
