THOMAS, DR. JOHN DAVID, went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Beck Thomas; daughters, Diane Kimball (Gary), Teresa Mitchell (Daniel); and brother, Eric Thomas (Dorothy). He is also survived by: 8 grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Dr. Thomas was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He retired as an army captain. He worked for the Duval and Palm Beach County school system. He earned a Bachelors and a Masters degree from The University of Florida, and a Doctorate degree from Nova University. He pastored churches in Palm Dale and Pioneer, Florida. He also volunteered with the Big Lake Baptist Association. He loved playing in the Lampi Memorial Band. He also loved singing and playing the piano and harmonica. Although we know he is with his Lord and Saviour, he will be missed by his family and friends left behind. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday (Today), September 18, 2013 at the Scott Funeral Home, 504 W. Interlake Blvd. Lake Placid. Funeral services to celebrate Mr. Thomas life will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Faith Baptist Church 660 Holmes Avenue, Lake Placid with Pastor Bill Cole officiating. Military honors to follow presented by the VFW Post 4300 Honor Guard. Interment at the Ridge Lawn Cemetery in Clewiston, FL.
