KAVANAUGH, John Frederick, 81, of Avon Park, died Friday morning, July 12, 2013 at his home. A native of Tampa, FL he had lived in this area since 1980 coming from Hialeah, FL. He was a retired mechanic for the City of Hialeah. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was in the US Marine Corps Reserves. He was a member of Poinciana Lodge No. 227 F & AM, Avon Park and Past Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of F & AM of Florida in 2005, Egypt Shrine, Tampa Scottish Rite, Cessna 180 Club, Everglades Conservation Club and a Kentucky Coloniel. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Miki Kavanaugh, Avon Park; four step children, Gari Lee Roberts, Jacki Hall, Laddie Jack Merletti and Gregory Mead Badour. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 7 p.m. at Fountain Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. until service time. Interment will be at Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Poinciana Lodge No 227 F & AM. Arrangements with Fountain Funeral Home, Avon Park, FL.
