ROBINSON, John Robert "Bob", 90, formerly of Temple Terrace, died Wed-nesday, November 7, 2012. A memorial service will be held December 8 at First Presbyterian, Grapevine. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Honor Flight Fort Worth (taking veterans to the WWII memorial) at www.honorflightfortworth.org or PO Box 24191, Ft. Worth, TX 76124. Bob, known to many of his friends as "Robby", was born on March 30, 1922 in Boswell, PA to Harry and Pearl Robinson. He attended the University of Florida, where he was active in the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, intramurals, The Florida Alligator newspaper and ROTC. He was awarded a BA in Sociology in 1943. At UF he met the love of his life, Eleanor. They were married in the Post Chapel at Ft. Benning, Georgia on May 12, 1944. He served in WWII in the 194th Glider Infantry Regiment of the 17th Airborne Division and received the Bronze Star, Belgian Croix de Guerre and Purple Heart. He remained in the military reserves until 1968, ending his career as the Executive Officer of the 13th Special Forces Group. Bob had a 38 year career with Delta Air Lines, retiring as a Regional Marketing Director. Referring to Delta, he often said he was fortunate to have an interesting job with a great company and a true family. He was a member of many organizations including Sales and Marketing Executives, SKOL and Temple Terrace G&CC. Eleanor and he retired to Temple Terrace in 1984. He was an elder at Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Judeo-Christian Coalition Clinic and the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. In 2008, he moved to Grapevine, Tx. He was predeceased by a son, James Ernst Robinson and grandson, Jacob Russell Robinson. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eleanor; sons, Mike (Yvonne) and Bob of Tampa and David (Kay) of Grapevine; grandchildren, Steffany Lafosse-Marin (Stephane), Ashley Franzel (Josh) and Kelsey Anderson (David); great-grandchildren, Ava, Lucas, Jackson and Alexandra.
