PARADES, Jose N. "Joe," age 93, passed away on January 6, 2013 in Winter Garden, Florida. Born in West Tampa on September 22, 1919 he was a native of Tampa, and the proud son of Spanish immigrants. He resided in Tampa most of his life having moved to San Antonio, and then to Clermont, in his later years. He was a loving, caring man who did all he could to make a better life for his family. During World War II he served in the U.S. Coast Guard while stationed in New York Harbor. Professionally, he was an accountant. He worked at Southern Brewing Company for many years and then became the comptroller for the Schlitz and Pabst Tampa Plants. He was predeceased by his son, David; and first wife, Violeta. Joe is survived by his wife, Althine (Dee); daughter, Alice Adler (Bill); son, Wayne Parades; and sister, Adelaide Vazquez; his five grandchildren, Alison Adler Swearingen (Hunter), Meredith Adler McCall (Matt), Anthony, Johnathan and Jinny Parades; and his beloved great-granddaughter, Abbey Swearingen; several cousins, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 15 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 12708 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Metropolitan Ministries in Joe's name.
