GAVIN, Margaret Lorene Forbes, age 93, of Plant City went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Surviving are her daughter, Diana G. Rhode (Clyde) and son, Willam A. Gavin, Jr. (Stephanie). Margaret had 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William Alphus Gavin; her daughter, Rebecca Rollins (Harry); her sister Brunette Bugg; and her brothers, Charles W. Forbes and Herbert Forbes. Margaret was born on March 7, 1921 in Plant City, and grew up during the Great Depression, working hard and helping family and friends to survive during those trying times. She married her husband Bill, only to see him off to fight in World War II soon afterward. When Bill returned, together they raised their three children and owned and ran their own hardware store business. Margaret was an integral part of the business while also managing the household and raising the children. Despite the challenges life presented to her, Margaret always faced circumstances with patience, resolve, hard work, humor and love. She was a devoted member of the Northside Baptist Church, and her faith was the foundation for her kind and generous personality. She will be missed dearly by all whose lives she touched. A funeral service will be held at Wells Memorial Funeral Home in Plant City on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11am. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will follow at Memorial Park.
