Paul Brown Obituary



BROWN, Paul R., 92, of Scituate, Mass., died Saturday, May 7, 2011, at

the Shepard House in Sebring, Fla. He was born in Newton, Mass., where he grew up and attended schools. He later graduated from Boston University, where he was captain of the hockey team. He was a longtime resident of Scituate. Mr. Brown was a manufacturers representative for Jack Fay Co. for seven years afterhis discharge from the U.S. Army. He was then self- employed as a manufacturers representative for electrical fixtures and supplies for 30 years. After his retirement, Paul was a bus driver for the Cohasset sports teams. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran, serving during World War II for the 8th Air Force, 445th Bomb Group 42nd Squadron, and was aboard the Bee Bee's Boys as navigator, where he flew 19 missions, was shot down and was a prisoner of war. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Scituate. He was a former member of the Scituate Country Club, and enjoyed golf and the beach. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen (FitzGerald) Brown. He was also predeceased by his granddaughter, Shauna Barker. He is survived by his son, Paul R. II and his wife, Lucie Brown of Salem, N.H.; daughter, Barbara Barker of Kingston, Mass.; grandchildren, Scott Barker and Carol Gerhart;

great-grandchildren, Luke and Lily Gerhart, and Mitchell and Chloe Barker;

niece, Katherine Hogan of Scituate, Mass. Calling hours will take place 10-11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, at St. Mary's Church in Scituate. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Scituate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes at American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street Alexandria, VA 22311; or to Juvenile Arthritis at Arthritis Foundation, P.O.
