WHALEY, Ronald Moore, 71, lifelong Tampa native and well known owner of Whaley's Markets, peacefully left this life on Labor Day with his wife and family at his side. Ronnie had a full and blessed life. He played football and basketball at Hillsborough High School and married his high school sweetheart, Jeanie Ferlita. Together they had three children, Linda Whaley Bublitz, Ronald Todd Whaley, and Laurie Whaley Pearson, all of whom worked with Ron over the years at Whaley's Market. In his younger years Ron delighted in coaching Little League, always having a love for children and his beloved Florida Gators. He cherished his four grandsons Ronald, Justin, Michael, Warren, step granddaughter Crystal Ink, and the additional "adopted" ones who shared Sunday dinners, and even lived at their home for periods of time. Ronnie enjoyed traveling with Jeanie and their valued friends, Mary and Armand Chaves, and boating with Carole and Jim Hendry, beloved sister/brother-in-laws. He also took pleasure in his horses and "grand-dogs". Ron was a Christian, who could be as commanding as his hero John Wayne, but whose generosity and compassion touched many lives. His friends were lifelong. Ron is survived by his loving wife Jeanie; his three children and their spouses, Kevin, Wade, and MaryLou; his beloved grandchildren, his brother Roy Whaley; and a large, extended, close family, and treasured friends. The family will receive visitors and celebrate Ron's life from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave., followed by a graveside service at Hopewell Cemetery, located on Kennedy and Church Street.
