Ruth Hoffman Obituary

HOFFMAN, Ruth Sumner, 92, of Belleair Bluffs, Fla., formerly of

Dade City, Fla., died May 11, 2011, after a brief illness. She was born in

Waxhaw, N.C., July 28, 1918, the daughter of Lessie and Edward E. Auton. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph D. Sumner, a Dade City citrus grower, who died in 1959. Her second husband, C. H. Hoffman, also of Dade City, died in 1999. She

was active at First Baptist Church of Dade City before moving to Belleair Bluffs in 1997, where she became a member of Christ

Presbyterian Church, Largo. She was a homemaker who is survived by three children, Joann Bandy and Frankie Goldsby of Belleair Bluffs and David E. Sumner (Elise) of Anderson, Ind. She has six grandchildren, Joey Wubbena (Lisa) of Dade City, Charles Wubbena of Ocala, Fla., Kaye Kirkpatrick of Ocala, Michelle Gibson of Fairbanks, Alaska, Joel Bandy of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Alan Bandy (Necoe) of Shawnee, Okla. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren and

two great-great grand-children. She was preceded in death by eight

brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the 5th Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City. The family will receive friends for viewing one

hour prior to service time. Interment will follow at Dade City Cemetery.
