BUTCHER, Sara Houghtaling, May 4, 1932 - March 25, 2014 Sara Houghtaling Butcher, 82 of Sebring, Florida peacefully went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. She joyfully joined her great-granddaughter Heather who also went to be with the Lord on March 22, 2014. Sara was born May 4, 1932 in Randolph County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Lizabeth Chaffin White and Merton Chaffin. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Sparta Road Baptist Church in Sebring. Those who knew Sara saw a strong, giving, loving and God fearing woman who waited for the day to walk alongside her blessed Lord. Although her life here on earth was full of physical pain and suffering Sara knew her faith would guide her way. She was preceded in death by her late husband Don Houghtaling, Sr., a son, Chris Allen, two sisters, Alta Blankenship and Mary Landreth. Surviving Sara is her beloved husband Edwin Butcher, three daughters, Kathy Breed (Ricky) of Murphy, N.C., Felicia Goddard (Marty) of Punta Gorda, Fl., Stacy Sams Tolar (Lee) of Sebring, Fl., two sons Don Houghtaling, Jr. of Treasure Island, Fl. And Mark Allen (Betty) of Murphy, N.C. , two sisters, Sherry Rasmus (Don) of Blue Springs, Missouri and Robbie Longshore of LaGrange, Ga. and one brother Max Chaffin (Sandy) of Okeechobee, Fl. Sara was also blessed with 24 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and a multitude of extended family and friends that she loved dearly. There will be a Celebration of Sara's life on Wednesday, April 2,2014 at 1 :00 p.m. at Highlands Hammock State Park (Bear Pavilion).
