It's hard to believe it has been 12 years since Stephen passed away. I remember his smile and how much I enjoyed flying with him. Always a good day when I saw his name on the crew list with me! Thinking of you all on this anniversary.

Dear Doris & family,
Please except our deepest sympathy. Our Stephen was a wonderful loving & giving Angel on Earth.
My belief is that he went home & now is able to watch you from above.
His illness took so much out of him & from you. It is so difficult to watch a loved one suffer and so finally he went to rest with the Lord. There is a feeling of gratitude & at the same time great sadness.
Let the really special memories of Steohen prevail! He is with the Lord after a life well lived.

I was so sad to learn of Steve's passing. He was in my initial flight attendant training class 30 years ago with Delta..and even though I never flew with him..he was loved from the very start of his career. He was kind, funny, an awesome flight attendant and had a warm smile and hug for all his friends. What a class act. He will be missed. My sympathy to his family. Steve, you are loved!

I was thinking about you a couple of weeks ago. How when we were all kids hanging out between your house & grandma's. You, always being the "Big Brother" of the group.. Bobby, Heidi, my siblings.. I had the priviledge of knowing Steve through my job as a fellow flight attendant with Delta. He was always so funny, caring and giving of himself. He never forgot a name or face. He was such a delightful human being and I feel lucky to have known him and shared some time with him. He will be missed by so many, but never forgotten. I am so sad to know Steve won't be with us this month to celebrate our Delta 30 year reunion. As one of 4 guys in our class, everyone had a special place in their heart for Steve. How could you not? I have such great memories of Steve and 2 day trips we did years ago. I never laughed so hard. Sometimes you got on trips and everyone clicks and the whole month is just a joy. I'm so sorry to hear of Steve's death but I will always remember the fun we had.

I flew with Steve on many flights, and it was always such fun, and professional. We always joked that a bunch of us would start a fl. attendant retirement place, and build cinderblock bookcases just lilke in college. I knew Stephen from his first day with Delta. I was his Initial Flight Attendant Instructor. He was first a trainee, then a Flight Attendant and finally I had the pleasure to call him a friend. As I read through what everyone had to say, I could not agree more. Stephen always greeted you with a huge smile and a warm hug. I am saddened and shocked, my condolences go out to his family. We have lost a true treasure.

Often when someone passes it is often remarked what a nice person they were. I can truely say that Stephen was one of the most kind hearted and considerate persons we have ever met. A wonderful neighbor and friend, we will always miss him so much. Life will always be a little sadder without the prospect of his warm greeting and his fantastic key lime pies. I am so saddened to hear of Steve's passing. He was always a bright shining light in my life. Steve was one of the most cheerful, friendly, helpful persons I have ever met. He would always bring a smile to my face and brighten my day whenever I would see him, fly with him or just think of him. Even in these past couple of years, enduring a great deal of pain, he kept his cheerful disposition. That spoke volumes about the quality person he was. I loved flying with Steve. He was always a fine example of a flight attendant who knew how to run a good airplane. We had a great time during the long hours on the way to Europe, chatting on the jumpseat and in the galley. Those are great memories, and I'm glad I was a part of Delta and got to know people like Steve.

To the Coplen Family,
Stephen and I were acquainted through Delta Airlines where we were both flight attendants and became good friends.
We had not flown together for many years but got back in touch again in 2002. Stephen and I talked almost daily about his hope to return to the airlines after a serious back injury. I will never forget his encouragement through my own disabling injury and loss of my Delta position. His daily phone calls of concern for me brightened each day.
He loved to travel and his favorite place was the Seychelles Islands. He shared with me that he had traveled everywhere but New Zealand and hoped to someday make this trip.
Stephen’s love for his mother was evident in our conversations. He enjoyed cooking German food & listening to German music with his mother Doris. His visits with Doris were so important to him and he looked forward to their time together.
Stephen was a people person and his job allowed him to shine in this capacity. He was hard working and organized, making flights with him seem effortless. His love of children was evident.
He had a generous spirit and giving nature. Stephen enjoyed making cheesecake and sharing it with friends and neighbors.
His home was a special retreat for him. He loved the house, neighbors, and neighborhood. He looked forward to the day he would feel up to working around his house and property again.
My final thought for family and friends: Those we hold most dear never truly leave us – they live on in the kindness they showed, the comfort they shared, and the love they brought into our lives.

I wish to express my deepest sympathy to Steve's family I have had the pleasure of being one of Steve's friends through grade school, Junior & High School, I shared several classes with Steve and I am so sad, I have thought about Steve at every reunion and as recent as last week when I came across our 4th grade homeroom picture with Mrs. Coker at Lanier Elementary. We shared alot of fun times and laughter and I'll never forget you.

I am very saddened to hear about Steve. He was my roomate for initial training 30 years ago. Steve was the 1st person I met as a peer f/a. I remember thinking, what a class act, well spoken, impeccable manners. He and I talked so much about about being a f/a, wondering what it would be like upon graduation.
We flew many times together over the years and compared notes about our new career.
Steve transferred bases a few times and I eventually retired in Dec. 04
I have not seen Steve in many years but will always remember him as the class act to try to follow. Steve will be greatly missed. It is such a loss for all who knew him.

We will miss having you as our friend & neighbor. Stephen was an upbeat, generous, and interesting person even as he struggled the last three years with extreme pain from an injury. He worked hard to overcome his injuries and was always putting on a bright face even when you could tell he was suffering greatly.
