KING, Thomas McRae (Tommy), passed away on April 24, 2014. He was born in Tampa, Florida on June 21, 1936, and was a life-long resident of Tampa. Tommy is survived by his wife, Patti Lee (Smith); daughters, Windy Gail King Ciccarello and Virdie Desiree King Alfieri; sons-in-law, Sam Frederick Ciccarello and Michael Kevin Alfieri; and grandson, Michael Giancarlo Alfieri. Tommy was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle Christine King, and his daughter, Leslie Christine King. He was the last of nine children: Ralph King, Maude Bryan, Donald Osborne King, Jennie Johumpson, Jackie Winkler, Joyce Stitch, Betty Frier, and Bonnie Martin. All but Joyce and Bonnie are deceased. At sixteen years of age, Tommy became a U.S. Merchant Marine. Subsequently, he was drafted by the New York Giants as a pitcher. He was an excellent athlete, loved fishing, the outdoors and his farm animals, but was happiest when surrounded by his loved ones. Often family gatherings were concluded by games played together outdoors. Tommy was highly competitive, and no matter the game (horseshoes, bocce ball, corn hole, darts) he would never give up. Tommy wanted to prevail, and more often than not, he did, despite the younger competition. He was outspoken and refreshingly blunt. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family. A celebration of his life will take place at 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 27 at Impact Church of Keystone, 10925 Tarpon Springs Road, Odessa, Florida 33556. Interment will be Monday, April 28 at 1:00 PM at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 813-626-3161. Pallbearers: Sam Ciccarello, Michael Alfieri, Giancarlo Alfieri, Kyle Williams, Donald Martin, David Thornton. Honorary Pallbearers: Allen Frier, Chris McPhee. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Suncoast Chapter, 3507 East Frontage Road, Suite 300, Tampa, FL 33607
