POWELL, William D. Jr, "Shorty," passed away, January 19, 2013. He was a Tampa native and WWII veteran. He served in the US Army from 1943-1946 in France, Holland, Belgium, and the Czech Republic, and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves in 1961 as a Captain, He retired from General Telephone and Electronics Corp. after 44 years, and was the owner-operator of Agency Sign Company. For the past 13 years, he worked for Busch Gardens. He was a member of the Egypt Shrine and was the Emeritus Musician of Hillsborough Lodge No. 25, where he was a Master Mason and served as Worshipful Master. Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his wife, June Moran. He is survived by his son, William D. Powell III and wife, Vicki; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other loving family and friends. Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013, with visitation for family and friends from 3-3:30 p.m. Masonic service will take place at 3:30 p.m. Services will take place at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 2707 W.
