BILLINGS, SR., Van Dyke "Budd", 93, of Hudson, FL died February 19, 2014. Budd was born in Stamford, NY. He grew up on a dairy farm and resort hotel in the Catskills, but left to study interior design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. He served proudly in the US Army, Chemical Battalion, during WWII in the South Pacific. After the war, he returned to Pratt Institute to teach Interior Design, becoming the department head. His outstanding skills at color design led him to the Norcross Greeting Card Company where he was an Art Director for many years supervising the development and printing of Greeting Cards. He later moved to New Hampshire where he worked in color printing for Concord Lithographics. Upon retiring, he moved to Spring Hill, Florida, where he and his wife, Kosma, became very active at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, where Budd served on the Vestry. He was devoted to the church and created many dramatic and beautiful hangings for the church, many of which were recognized by the Episcopal Church and displayed at other locations.Budd was a devoted husband. He and Kosma traveled around the world in retirement, Kosma painting the scenes they saw and Budd framing the artwork. They were very social, entertaining frequently, and they loved to dance. Their marriage lasted for 64 beautiful years, till her death in 2009. Budd is survived by his son, Van Dyke, Jr., (Janet), daughter, Evette Biavaschi (John), grandsons Trey Billings (Elisa), Scott Biavaschi (LeeAnn), Danielle Merchant (Fazal) and seven great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11AM on March 8 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 2301 Deltona Blvd., Spring Hill, Florida 34606.
