BIGGERSTAFF, Wilbur Eugene, 89, of Sebring passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Somer Hospice House with his loving family by his bedside. He was born September 18,1924 in Cameron, MO to Olin and Irene (Wamsley) Biggerstaff. Wilbur graduated from high school in Orange, CA, then enlisted in the US Navy where he served from 1942 to 1945 and then from 1948 to 1958. He married Pauline Estelle LeBlanc from Manchester, NH on September 23, 1950. While in the Navy Wilbur served on submaries and was on active duty during both WWII and the Korean War. He had many stories to tell of his time in the Pacific. After the service Wilbur and family moved back to Missouri where they lived until 1998. At that time he and Pauline moved to Sebring where they enjoyed their many friends at Woodhaven Estates. Throughout life Wilbur was always busy working on one project or another. His family will always have fond memories of the trip they took to New Hampshire in a school bus he converted into a camper. He thought that every scrap of lumber or piece of metal that he met was worth "saving." Wilbur was preceded in death by his son, Monty Biggerstaff, and a grandson, Joshua Biggerstaff. He is survived by his wife, Pauline, and seven children: Michael Biggerstaff (Berniece) of Celina, OH, Diane Burnett (C.S.) of Trenton, GA, John Biggerstaff (Wendy) of Independence, MO, Teresa Dennis of Sebring, Jim Biggerstaff (Julie), Bill Biggerstaff (Susie) and Joe Biggerstaff (Christi) of Kidder, MO. He is also survived by daughter-in-law, Julie Biggerstaff of Kansas City, MO, 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
