HATCH, Norman Elliot, 71 of Lake Placid passed away Saturday morning April 12, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Hatch was born on December 26, 1942 in Haverhill, Massachusetts to parents Alice Mary (Fuller) and Frank Parker Hatch. Norm was a retired military veteran, serving 20 years in the Army as a medical specialist. While serving his country, Norm received many awards and medals including the Gallantry Cross. After retiring from the military, Norm was employed as a nurse for 35 years. Norm moved to Lake Placid in 1990 from PA. He was a member of the American Legion Placid Post 25 Lake Placid. Norm enjoyed boating, riding his motorcycle and loved spending time with his many friends and family. Mr. Hatch is preceded in death by his father Parker and a brother Earle. Norm is survived by his loving wife of 12 years Robin; mother, Alice Hatch; brother, Roger Hatch (Barbara); daughters, Laura King (John), Robin Steger (John), Eva Reed, Andrea Hatch, Stephanie Noble (Larry); 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd. Lake Placid with military honors by the VFW Post 4300 Honor Guard. A celebration of Norm's life will be held immediately following the service at the Hideaway in Lake Placid. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Cornerstone Hospice 227 US Highway 27 North Sebring, FL 33870.
