WILSON, Margaret O., 93, of Sun City Center, FL, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2014. Margaret, known to her family as "Sis", lived most of her life on the family citrus and cattle farm built by her father and mother in Thonotosassa, FL. She is preceded in death by her father, Alfred W. Wilson, her mother Florence O. Wilson, brother Alfred W. Wilson, Jr. and sister, Jean W. Smolek and brother-in-law, Edward J. Smolek. She is survived by her nephews Ken, Gary and Michael Smolek and niece Beverly S. Eckhardt, their spouses, eight great nieces, two great nephews, one great-great niece and three great-great nephews. Never having children of her own, she shared in and held an important place in the lives of her nieces and nephews and their families. After graduating from Plant City High School in 1939, she attended business college and was a long time employee of Superior Fertilizer in the accounting department. As a Charter Member, she helped found the Altrusa Club of Tampa in 1953. Margaret remained a very proud and productive member for over 60 years. She was a member of Hillsborough United Methodist Church. She was the family photographer and genealogist, carefully recording each birth, death and notable event in her family's lives. She loved doing crafts, creating Christmas stockings and a quilt for each new baby. She took great pride in baking and decorating cakes, including several family wedding cakes. She loved animals, from those on the farm to her many cats and dogs and her long time pet turtle. She started a new phase of her life seven years ago when she moved to Ashton Gardens at the Courtyards in Sun City Center. Here she participated in numerous activities and made many new friends. She will be remembered as being friendly, generous, kind, reliable, intelligent, well-organized and caring. She will be missed by all who knew her. Sis has gone home. Visitation is Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 3 to 5 PM and funeral services will be on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 10AM at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL. Burial will follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
