TOUPS, Mary "Lynn" Roley. At sunset, on the Vigil of Pentecost, June 7, 2014, our dear mother Mary "Lynn" Roley Toups, through the power of the Holy Spirit, passed into the arms of our Loving Father in Heaven and into those of our own dear father Leon. As she would have wanted, she was surrounded by her three children and her room was filled with prayer and mercy at that crucial moment for each of our lives. So many friends have walked this journey with Lynn. We appreciate all of your love and support at this time of our grief, but please rejoice with us that Mom is in the hands of God and at peace - of this we have great confidence. Lynn bravely endured a three year journey with cancer. Her spirit is now carried on by her three children, 6 grandchildren, sister, and an extended family of relations and friends from every chapter of her life. We were blessed to learn many valuable life lessons from Lynn during her 74 years, among them Romans 8:28 and her favorite phrase when she made a suggestion "Can't hurt, might help." Devoted wife, Lynn was married for 44 years to Leon Toups who passed into eternal life in 2006. She was the loving mother of Vicki, Michael and (Monsignor) David Toups; mother-in-law of Russell (Sheaffer) and Lee Anne (Toups); adoring grandmother to Andrew, David, and Daniel (Sheaffer), and Christopher, Mary Michael and Grace (Toups); and darling sister of Susie Johnson. Lynn was born on March 6, 1940, in Albany, OR and moved to Clearwater, FL, with her mother, the late Mary Paulus Roley, to attend St. Cecelia elementary school. She graduated from the Clearwater HS Class of 1958 and remained close friends with many classmates. Lynn attended Florida State where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority and was voted FSU's Miss Greek Goddess. She finished her studies at Emory University in Atlanta in the field of Medical Records, where she met Leon, her Georgia Tech engineer at the Cathedral of Christ the King. When her youngest left home she returned to her studies at the University of Tampa and later to St. Pete Theological Seminary earning a masters degree in Theology. Lynn and Leon loved to travel and she was blessed to go to many foreign lands, including her dream of an archaeological dig in Israel, which held a special place in her heart. She was an active writer and enjoyed books, movies, and a good game of Bridge. Most of all she loved her children, grandchildren, and lunch with friends. Lynn was always generous with her time, talent, and treasure. She was an active member of St. Cecelia and St. Patrick Catholic parishes and involved in many church-related organizations and charitable causes, the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre being especially dear to her. Whether it was to find a lost object or a parking space, Lynn always invoked the Saints. She only drove blue cars in honor of her dear friend, Mother Mary. The wake for friends and family will be at St. Cecelia Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 11th beginning at 6:30 pm, with an Evening Prayer service at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass at St. Cecelia on Thursday June 12th, will be at 1:30 pm. Internment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in memory of Lynn Toups to St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary, 10701 S. Military Trail, Boynton Beach, FL, 33436, (561) 732-4424. Many thanks to all of our family and friends who have stood by us so faith-fully throughout our lives, and especially during this time of suffering. Your friendship, prayers, & sup-port mean more than you will ever know and we are e-ternally grateful. "May God bless you always, in all ways!"
