MEEKS, Robert Franklin, 80, better known as "OK BOB" was a native of Plant City, and once held the title of 'Strawberry Festival King.' He was transported to GLORY on Sunday, August 3rd, 2014. Word has it that he is al-ready organizing a fund-raising awareness event for OK KIDS on the streets of gold. He leaves behind his wife, Greta, of 33 years; 1st generation OK KIDS, Robin, Kristy, Mitchell; and step-children, Charles and Tina; along with countless other OK KIDS around the world. OK Bob's burden for child-ren was superseded only by his love for the Lord. The investments he made in the lives of others will pay ETERNAL dividends. In 1970, he founded OK KIDS Inc., in Tampa. Bob worked his entire career as scientist in the Neutron Devices Depart-ment of GE, on Bryan Dairy Road in Pinellas County until he retired in 1992. Upon his retirement, Bob became the Full-Time Dir-ector of OK KIDS turning his entire focus on the day-to- day operations. Bob's service work did not end with the OK Kids Foun-dation. He was recognized by receiving the Key to the City of St. Petersburg from Mayor Rick Baker for Ser-vice to Mankind. In 2004, he was also inducted into the Hillsborough High School Hall of Fame. Bob attended Bryan Elementary, Franklin Jr. High, Hillsborough High, the University of Tampa, and he graduated from the Univer-sity of South Florida with a degree in Geology. Graveside service will held on Friday at Garden of Memories at 10:00AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30AM - 11711 Vera Ave., Tampa, 33618.
