McCORVEY, Betty Jo, "B.J.," 78, of Dade City, Fla., passed away Sunday, October 25, 2009, at her home. She was born in Colquitt County, Ga., to Jo and Betty Richter. B.J., also known to her family and friends as "Nana," had just completed the move to the Dade City area from Leesburg, Fla. She spent the majority of her life in the Gibsonton/Riverview area, surrounded by family and friends. Retiring from GTE in the ' 80s after 32 years of service, she began her career as an operator and was in the switching services area in traffic support when she retired. She is survived by her husband, Durell McCorvey; her son, Doug McCorvey and family; Cindy Ellis of Gibsonton, Fla.; grand-children, Misty and Lance Fox, and Graham and Kriscinda McCorvey; her daughter, Renee Harrison and family; Lee Harrison of Dade City; grandchild, Russell and Carrie Buzbee; and nine great-grand- children, Natalie Filiponne, Lindsay Filiponne, Madison McSweeney, Galvin Buzbee, Xander Buzbee, Jett Buzbee, Ashia McCorvey, Victoria Fox and Payton Fox. A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in B.J.' s name to HPH Hospice.
