COZART, Dr. David Charles Sr., a former Spring Valley resident and

current Plant City, Fla., resident,

died suddenly Friday, May 28, 2010, at Wedge-wood Public Golf Course in Wilson, N.C. Dr. Cozart was born August 22, 1942, in Piermont, N.Y., to George A. Cozart Sr. and Vivian Cook-Cozart. Both preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Army 101st Airborne Paratrooper veteran, who met the love of his life, Ms. Gloria Jean Carter, from Wilson, N.C. They were married May 28, 1966, and were blessed with two beautiful children, David Charles Cozart Jr. of West Orange, N.J., and Kimberlie Doris Cozart-Richardson of Baltimore, Md. His memory will forever be engraved in the heart of his wife, Gloria, of 44 years; son, David Charles Cozart Jr. (I. Marlo) of West Orange; daughter, Kimberlie Doris Cozart-Richardson (Pastor Lawrence G. Richardson) of Baltimore; special daughter, April Brown of Bowie, Md.; four grand-children, David Charles Cozart III, (Trey), Christian Bria Cozart, Malachi Joel Richardson and Isaiah Gregory Richardson; three godchildren, Sonji Cozart-Williams of Tampa, Adam Cash of Rutherford, N.J., and Ciara McMillan of Richmond, Va. Six brothers and three sisters also survive him, Rev. George A. Cozart Jr. (Mary) of Tampa; Yvonne Cozart-Royster (Ronald Sr.) of Bridgeville, Del.; Leonard Cozart of Newburgh, N.Y.; Maxine Cozart-Glanton (David, Sr.); and Glen Cozart and Warren Cozart, all residing in Middleburg, Fla.; Wayne Cozart of Paterson, N.J.; Kevin Cozart of Spring Valley, N.Y.; Laverne Cozart-Hicks (Gordon) of Chester, N.Y. Dr. Cozart' s brothers, Richard Cozart and Ronald Cozart, predeceased him. He also leaves behind his aunts, Eleanor Cook of Fort Lee, N.J., Elizabeth Davis of Central Nyack, N.Y., Aimee Johnson (Alfonso) of Tampa and Maurice Cozart (godmother) of Piermont, N.Y.; uncle, William Cozart (Helen) of Central Nyack; cousin, Leonard Cooke, (Elizabeth) of Nyack; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Final viewing will take place 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2010, at St. Charles African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Sparkill, N.Y. His glorious home going service will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Pilgrim Baptist Church, Nyack, N.Y. His interment will take place at Rockland County Veterans Administration Cemetery in Spring Valley, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dr. David C. Cozart Sr. Scholarship Fund.
