PAPACHRISTOU, Dimitri N., M.D., of Athens, Greece, and Tampa, departed Tuesday, November 29, 2011. In life, he was a prodigious master surgeon who saved or prolonged literally ten-thousand lives during his long career. He was a deeply spiritual man, which is reflected in his long record of altruism and pro-bono surgery. An artist inside and outside the operating room, he was also an accomplished painter and craftsman whose passion and creativity are reflected in his work. He was a devoted father and family man; and is survived by his two sons, their wives and one grand-child, as well as a large extended family in Greece. He was respected by fellow physicians, office and medical staff, a multitude of patients and all who knew him. A celebration of life will be held 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at the Memorial Hospital of Tampa Auditorium. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the USF College of Nursing, USF Foundation Inc., Attn: Michael Masem, 12901 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., MDC 70, Tampa, FL 33612.
