FOX, Robert J., 89, SM/Sgt. USAF, of Orlando, FL, formerly of Tampa, FL and Johns-town, PA, died Monday, April 30, 2012. He is survived by his brother, John of Ebensburg, PA.; a daughter and son, Roberta of Orlando and Michael of Toronto, Canada; and three grand-children, Damian Fox and Alexandra and Robert Schneider. Bob was a loving husband, father, and grand-father known for his warm personality, intelligence, and acerbic sense of humor. Bob served over 27 years in Libya, Panama, Germany, Turkey, Ohio, Ethiopia, California, retiring at MacDill A.F.B. In WWII, he served as a gunner on B-52 aircraft in the offensive over Italy, France, and northern Africa. He also retired from the Schlitz Canning Plant, Tampa. Bob was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars, the Air Medal with 3 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Joint Service Commendation Medal. We miss him greatly but are comforted that he is reunited with his wife, Pauline (Bankovsky), family, and comrades. Visitation will be Monday, May 7, from 9-10 AM, followed by the service at 10 AM, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 South Goldenrod Road, Orlando, and burial with military honors at Florida National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice in his memory.
