FASSELT Leo Heinrich, of Jasper, Georgia, passed on November 7, 2012 after a six month illness. One of eleven children, he is survived by brother, Hans Fasselt of Hicksville, New York; sister, Toni Henkelmann of Deuten, Germany; wife, Gisela Fasselt; son, Loyd Fasselt of Acworth, Georgia; daughter, Veronica Fasselt of Atlanta; and three grandchildren. Born on July 2, 1932 in Deuten, (near Dorsten) Germany, he began his professional career as a movie projectionist. He followed up with a three year photography apprenticeship and graduated from college as a photographer. After immigrating to Toronto, Canada in 1954, he worked for the Canadian Broadcasting Company. He met and married his wife, Gisela, in 1956. In 1958, they immigrated to the United States and became U.S. citizens. Leo worked at WFLA-TV (Media General) in Tampa, Florida, where he managed the color photo/film lab. He also developed solutions for film processing, wrote numerous technical articles (including some in the Library of Congress) and was consulted as technical expert in the motion picture field. Additionally, he served as President of the Southern Motion Picture and Television Engineers. His two children were born and raised in Tampa. In 1988, he and his wife retired to Jasper, Georgia, where he grew organic fruits and vegetables and studied herbal healing and natural remedies. Leo was a devoted Catholic throughout his life. The immediate family held a private service at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Jasper, Georgia on November 7, 2012.
