SARGENT, Edwin B., 79, of Dade City, passed away on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012. He was born in Tampa on Oct. 31, 1933 and was a lifelong resident of Dade City. Edwin graduated from Pasco High School in 1951, then graduated from Gordon College and continued his education at Clemson, studying Agriculture. He served in the Army and returned home to Dade City, where he worked for Lykes Pasco Packing until his retirement. Edwin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dade City, the Fun T Club of Central Florida, the Model T Ford Club International and a former member of the Tampa Rose Society. He was preceded in death by his parents, W. Porter Sargent and Margaret K. Sargent; and his wife of 37 years, Betty P. Sargent. Loving family and friends left behind include his children, Meg (Kevin) Shidler of Tampa, Lee (Kathy) Sargent of Dade City; grandchildren, Annie and William Shidler, Nicole, Bristol and Kristin Sargent; and his best friend and companion, Fran Newsome of Dade City. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 5:30 to 7:30 at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 11531 Hwy 301 Dade City, FL 33525. The funeral service will be Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 10:00.
