SCHELL, William Braxton, Jr. "Brax," died on January 24, 2012 in Birm-ingham, Alabama at the age of 59. Brax was born in Greens-boro, North Carolina to Ann Cooper Schell and William Braxton Schell. An avid Tar Heel fan, he graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1975 and from The University of Texas School of Law in 1978 and practiced law in Birmingham, Alabama for thirty four years. Music was Brax's passion throughout his life, beginning with his early interest in the Rolling Stones and continuing with his interest and support of the blues genre. He was a regular on the local music scene, playing the harmonica in various local bands. He was a strong supporter of the Magic City Blues Society and served on its Board at his death. Brax was preceded in death by his father, William Braxton Schell, and his brother, James Gray Schell. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Schell, of Birmingham, his children, Susan Schell of Birmingham and William Braxton Schell, III, of San Francisco, California, his mother, Ann Cooper Schell, of Tampa, Florida, his brother, Richard Schell, of Charlotte, North Carolina; his nieces and nephew, Betsy Schell, Sam Schell and Katherine Schell of Charlotte, North Carolina and Robin Burrell, the mother of his children. He was a good and loyal friend to many and a wonderful and dedicated father and husband and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
