SPOONER, Bearl Lane, 88 of Valrico, Fla., died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Feb. 3, 2013. Born Sept. 10, 1924 in Iron City, Ga. to Burl Ed and Willie Spooner, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17 and fought in the South Pacific during WWII. Upon his return he resided in Lynchburg, Va. where he met and married his wife of 64 years, Nancy Rice Spooner. In Tampa, Bearl co-owned, Industrial Marine Electronics. He was a mentor and an example to his children and many of his children's friends. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, target, skeet and trap shooting. He lovingly spoiled his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Edward and his parents. He is survived by his wife and constant companion, Nancy, son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kathleen Spooner of Lithia, Fla., son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Debbie Spooner of Trophy Club, Texas, daughter, Ann Spooner of High Springs, Fla., daughter, Barbara McClernan of Plant City, Fla., and son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Nancy Spooner of Valrico, Fla.; seven grand and two great- grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at the chapel of Garden of Memories Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
