WELLS, Ray E., 84 of Sebring, Florida, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring. Mr. Wells was born on September 10, 1928 in Greencastle, Indiana to parents Louis E. and Eula Grace (Hutcheson) Wells. Mr. Wells graduated from Reelsville High School in 1947 where he was a member of the 1946 Reelsville High School basketball team that was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Mr. Wells served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952. Mr. Wells worked at IBM for over 33 years retiring in 1987 and he was a charter member of the Fillmore Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Wells was a member of the Fillmore Christian Church and Past Master of Applegate Lodge #155 F&AM. Mr. Wells married Merribeth G. Knetzer on May 23, 1954; together they had four sons, David W. Wells, James R. Wells, Kenneth L. Wells, and William D. Wells. Mr. Wells is preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Mary Grace; two brothers Charles L. Wells, (Greencastle) and Donald D. Wells, (Brazil); his wife, Merribeth; son, James R. Wells; and his niece, Jill L. Wells. Mr. Wells is survived by his sister, Marie Cooper (Robert) of Brownsburg; brothers, Larry Wells (Deanna) and Ron Wells (Penny) of Greencastle; sons, David and wife Amy, Kenneth and wife Kelly of Greencastle, and William and companion Wendy Hager of Indianapolis. Mr. Wells is also survived by granddaughters, Amanda J. Mullenix (Matthew) of Greencastle, and Ashley N. Herrera (Juan) of Sherman Oaks, Calif. Savanna M. Wells, and Sabrina A. Wells of Tilton, Ill. grandsons, Conner Ray Wells of Tilton Ill., Kenneth E. Wells (Amanda), Korie L. Wells (Lacy), of Greencastle, Kurt M. Wells (Tabitha) of Monrovia IN. Mr. Wells is also survived by great granddaughters, Makenna J. Wells, Keira A. Wells, Emelia G. Wells, Katelynn J. Mullenix, and Lydia J. Wells; great grandsons, Leyton K. Wells and Keegan Wells, plus several nieces and nephews and sister in law Marilyn Wells. Mr. Wells is also survived by Best friend and Companion of many years, Alice A. Kosanke. Services will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2013.
