LOMAX, George E., 86 of Land O' Lakes, Florida, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013. He was born in Dayton Ohio, raised in Mississippi and moved to Florida in 1943. He became a World War II veteran at the age of sixteen. He was on the first wave into Iwo Jima earning a purple heart for wounds. He was also wounded at Saipan receiving a Gold Star in lieu of a 2nd Purple Heart. George was an aircraft mechanic for National Airline and Pan Am. He enjoyed any kind of fishing. George is preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Lomax. He is survived by his son, George Lomax, Jr.; three daughters, Deborah Lomax, Cynthia Raison, Mary Lou Hoard; brother, Robert Lomax; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
