HERCE, Ricardo, 93 was born in Key West, FL on Dec. 11, 1919. He was a resident of Tampa for over 30 years after retiring in Key West. Ricardo was preceded in death by his loving wife, Olga; brothers, Antonio Herce II, Mario Herce Sr.; and sister, Carmen Maloney. Ricardo was a distinguished and decorated WWII veteran, having served in the US Army's 79th Infantry Division. He participated in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He received two Purple Hearts, three Bronze Service Stars and the WWII Victory Medal, for his service in the campaigns in Normany and Northern France Rhineland. He also received the American Theatre of Operation Medal and the European Theatre of Operations Campaign Medal. Mr. Herce is survived by nephews, Antonio Herce III, Mario Herce Jr., Robert Herce, Roland Herce and Ernie Herce; nieces, Sandra Barroso and Jocelyn Hall, as well as many cousins in Key West and Tampa. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Ricardo's caregivers, Jim and Sandra Mortellaro. Friends will be received on Thursday, March 28, 2013, from 2pm until time of service at 3pm, at the chapel of Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa, 33610. Burial with military honors will follow in the cemetery.
