PICKUP, Martin Craig, age 53, passed away suddenly on March 26, 2013 from an apparent heart attack. He was born in Fort Worth, TX and had been a faithful gospel preacher for over 33 years. The last 19 years he served as an evangelist for the Valrico Church of Christ, where he will be sorely missed. He was also a professor of Biblical Studies at Florida College in Temple Terrace, Florida from 1988 to 2004. He was a true student of the Word and taught thousands of people how to examine their faith by applying Biblical principles in an honest and contextually accurate manner. He was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, preacher, teacher, and friend. Martin is survived by his wife of 30 years Aimee (Cotton) Pickup, son Nathan and his wife Nicole, son Taylor and his wife Emily, daughter Nicole and her husband Tony. He is also survived by his parents Harry and Joella Pickup, 3 brothers and their families, and a large extended family. He is predeceased by a sister. Our faith was strengthened just by observing his example and our hearts are broken at the thought of our earthly lives without this incredible man. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:30 p.m. on Sat. Mar. 30 at Temple Terrace Church of Christ, 8001 Temple Terrace Hwy. with a Memorial Service beginning at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make donations to the Florida College Marty Pickup Scholarship Fund.
