GREEN, Ray, 83 of Lake Placid, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 13, 2013 in Lake Placid. He was born in Meridian, MS and had been a resident of Lake Placid for 18 years coming from Islamorada, FL. He served in the U.S. Army and then the Marines. He moved to Pensacola, FL to start his family. He worked for L & N Railroad and as Captain Ray Green in the fishing industry. He retired from the Railroad and continued with the charter boat business. He would fish from Pensacola Beach, FL in the summer and fish out of Islamorada in the winter. He was known as "Banjo Ray" in the Keys. After retiring from fishing, he moved to Lake Placid to become a Security Guard at the Lake Placid Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd M. and Katie (Null) Green; son, Michael R. Green; and grandson, John M. Case. Mr. Green is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Sally Green; daughter, Kathryn Case; son, Captain Butch Green; grandchildren, Jake and Emily Green, Sandra Dean, Ashley and Patricia Case; great-grandchildren, Jacob Whiteshield, Samantha and Sebrina Michell, Timothy and Anna Suggs, Tristin, Kaylee and Jonathan Case, William and Robert Briggs; sisters, Ruth Church and Mary Snowden; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He will always be loved and remembered in our hearts for his love and devotion to his family. A Private Memorial Service for the family will be at a later date.
