FITSCHER, Dorothy Thurgood M., 94 of Plant City, Fl entered into eternal rest April 20, 2013 at her home. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah to a prominent Mormon family, she graduated from the University Utah in 1940; joining the U.S. Army as a WAC to show her support for the war effort. She was married to Thorl Fitscher in a military wedding at Fort Knox in 1945. She was an accomplished career woman working as a corporate secretary for 18 years at Gulf Florida Terminal and retiring after 16 years from Bonanni Ship Supply. She was an Active member of the Purple Heart Auxilliary from 1969 until 2006. She will be best remembered for her innate ability to treat both men and wildlife with the respect and kindness each deserves. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Thorl Fitscher a Purple Heart recipient, decorated member of the Mounted Cavalry and wounded in combat in North Africa. Dorothy is survived by nieces, Irene Smith, Rochelle Novak and nephew, Jack Carr; devoted caregivers, Teresa Glass, Misty Byrd and neighbor and friend of 47 years, Sarah Tyner. She was deeply loved by many friends and neighbors of the Antioch Area and will be greatly missed. Graveside service will take place on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue Bushnell, Florida. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Avenue Tampa, Fl.
