IVES, Irene, 85 of Spring Hill, FL passed away peacefully at Villa Marie Claire in Saddle River, NJ, Thursday, March 6th, 2014. Irene was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She loved nothing more than spending time with her siblings and their families. She will be dearly missed by her very large extended family. Irene was born on July 20th, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY to Frederick Youngman and Ethel St. John. After the passing of their mother, she resided with several of her siblings at the Happy Valley Family Home for Children in Pomona, NY. Upon graduation from Spring Valley High School, Irene worked at Bambergers in Nanuet and Otis Elevator in Montvale, NJ. She moved to Cape Cod and worked for the Chief of Police in Chatham until her retirement in 1994. Irene moved to Florida and built her dream home where she spent the last twenty years. Retirement allowed Irene to pursue her many interests which included her love of time spent with family, travel and dreams of ballroom dancing. She started taking dance classes where she excelled. With encouragement from her friends she went on to enter and win numerous dance competitions. Dancing in high heels and glamorous gowns to the music of her youth transported her back to a time of grandeur and elegance. Hard work and dedication turned what was once a hobby in to one of the highlights of her life! Survived by sisters Lucille Knight (Glassboro, NJ) and Joan Kaelin (Valrico, FL). Adored by those who consider her their second mother: Frank & Jocelyn Youngman (Pomona), Lee & Cathy Youngman (Suffern), Greg & Pat Youngman (Walden), Terry Youngman (Killington, VT), Janice & Al Bishel (Suffern), Allyson & Michael Elliott (Chester), Donna & Jon Kennedy (Murfreesboro, NC) and Sharyn & Kevin McTigue (West Nyack). Also left to cherish her memory are numerous nieces and nephews as well grand nieces and nephews who adored her and considered her their honorary grandmother and great-grandmother.
