VAUGHN, Kevin Michael, 21, of Riverview, entered into rest July 4, 2006. Born in Brandon, Kevin was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong resident of this area. Kevin was a young man that enjoyed life to the fullest. He started out as a young gifted baseball pitcher and played for many teams, Bloomingdale and East Bay Little League, and Temple Terrace Pony League. Kevin played with the first AAU baseball teams to start in Hillsborough County. They were the Temple Terrace Cobras and Tampa Tornados that both won Florida state championships. He played for Riverview High School and East Bay High School in his senior year, he was named as a 2003 All Conference National Division for outstanding achievements in pitching and hitting. Due to an injury to his elbow, his career was cut short, but Kevin didn't stop there; he continued with his other interests he loved. He began to fish, hunt and cook. If you couldn't reach Kevin on his cell phone, you knew that he was out in a boat or sitting up in a tree stand. He also enjoyed running with the dogs and friends all night to get the wild boar he truly loved to cook. Kevin's family wished to thank everyone for their support and prayers at this difficult time. We would like you to know that we love each of you and cherish the friendships that you shared with Kevin. Kevin was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Sue Collins; and his paternal grandfather, Charles R. Vaughn. He is survived by his beloved parents, Robert "Dannie" Vaughn and Nancy Collins Vaughn; his brother, Steven Vaughn; all of Riverview; his maternal grandfather, Sharkey Collins Sr. of Riverview; his paternal grandmother, Sybil Vanderspiegel of Tampa; his uncles, James Collins of Riverview, Sharkey Collins Jr. of Methuen, Mass., and Ronald Collins, also of Riverview; aunts, Marilyn Evers and Brenda Womack, both of Tampa; many cousins, family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Kevin to the Wildlife Foundation of Florida, P.O. Box 11010, Tallahassee, FL 32302. A memorial service will take place at noon Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, FL 33569, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
