WILLIAM H. UHL William H. Uhl, "Bill", 88, of Fort Pierce, FL, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2013. Bill was born in Glenshaw, PA. He earned a Bachelors of Science Degree from the State Teacher's College in California, PA, and began teaching Industrial Arts at Baldwin Township High School in Pittsburgh. After moving to Fort Pierce in 1952, Bill became a contractor and opened Bill Uhl's Swimming Pools. He proudly served aboard the USS Bunker Hill in the Navy during World War II. Bill was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, participating in Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class and Men's Club. He was an usher for the church and served on the Administrative Board. Bill helped initiate the Sea Scouts and was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #476. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, traveling, and working in his workshop. Most of all, Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Uhl; daughters Elizabeth Raikes (Bill) of Fort Pierce, FL, Beverly Higgs (Jim) of Tavares, FL, Nancy Dickson (Dan) of Fort Pierce, FL, and Linda Rhinesmith (Frank) of Orlando, FL; sons Bill Uhl Jr. (Kathy) of Denver, CO, and David Uhl (Diane) of Fort Worth, TX; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Margaret Uhl, and his brother John B. Uhl. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Yates Funeral Home, Fort Pierce Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 am on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church of Fort Pierce. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce, FL. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 616 Orange Avenue, Fort Pierce, FL 34950 or Treasure Coast Hospice, 5000 Dunn Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981.
