BETTY ANN DEUSCHLE HANSON Betty Ann (Deuschle) Hanson, 83, a resident of Manchester, CT, passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2013. Born in St. Augustine, Fla., June 21, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Nan J. (Underhill) and Joseph S. Deuschle, Sr. Betty was the beloved wife of the late Alfred Kenneth "Captain" Hanson, of 17 Beckett St., in Danbury, CT. Betty and Ken were retired proprietors of the former Hanson Machine Company in the Beckettville section of Danbury. Ken and his "First Mate", Betty, were avid boaters, and members of the Danbury Yacht Club on Candlewood Lake, the Candlewood Lake Power Squadron, the Coconut Point Yacht Club of Stuart, Fla., and the Cross Roads Cruising Club in Palm City, Fla. Betty is survived by her daughter, Susan Lynne (Hanson) Carey of Boca Raton, Fla. and her two sons, Dr. Jeffrey L. Hanson, and his wife Louise, of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and Dr. Alfred K. Hanson, Jr., and his wife Melissa, of Jamestown, RI. Betty has five grandchildren; Melissa and Jason Hanson, Royal and Melody Saunders and Nicholas Hanson and three great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her sister Virginia (Deuschle) Perlman, and her husband Milt, of Manchester, CT, her brother Joseph S. Deuschle, Jr., and his wife Diane, of St. Augustine, Fla. and several wonderful nieces and nephews. For several years, Betty has shared a home, in Vernon, CT, with her close friend and companion, Pat Iadarola. During that time period they enjoyed outings with the local "Step Beyond" group. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Rockville United Methodist Church, 142 Grove St., Rockville, CT 06066.
