DONALD EUGENE
SMITH Donald Eugene Smith, 79, formerly of Satellite Beach FL, husband of Charlotte Harris Smith, died December 7, 2013. Born in Vero Beach, FL, he was a son of the late Glenn and Mamie Smith. Donald served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star for outstanding military service. He received his Master's Degree from Florida State University and retired from the Air Force as a Colonel and Meteorologist. Mr. Smith was a member of First Baptist Mauldin, and was a volunteer missionary with the Southern Baptist Association for 10 years. He was a very avid Florida State Seminoles fan. In addition to his wife, Charlotte, he is survived by two daughters, Crystal Clevenger of Simpsonville, and April Eschenfelder of Plant City, FL; three sons, Avery Smith of Orlando FL, Todd Smith of Pleasantville, TN, and Ryan Smith of Russellville, TN; 19 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a sister Anita Eveskige of Branford, CT; and two brothers, Gary and Jimmy Smith both of Vero Beach, FL. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Hardin. The Celebration of Life Reception will be held at First Baptist Church of Vero Beach Fellowship Hall on January 25th, 2014 from 4-6:00PM. Memorials may be directed in Don's honor to Brazil Mission Fund, C/O Upper Laurel Baptist Church 9940 U.S. 23 Alt, Mars Hill, NC 28754.
