LUTHER R. SHEETS
Luther R. Sheets, 82, passed away on January 2, 2014, at his Port St. Lucie home, where he and his wife, Barbara, have lived for the last 10 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister. Lou's first wife, Donna, passed away in 1988. Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Schmidt), 6 children and step-children, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 brothers and 1 sister. He was employed by Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania for 42 years until his retirement. Lou was a member and Past Master of Masonic Lodge 615 in Charleroi, PA. He was honorably discharged from the US Army with the rank of Sergeant after being stationed in occupied Japan and serving during the Korean War. His armored unit were among the first US Troops to enter the conflict and Lou was awarded several military citations including the Combat Infantry Badge. Lou had a passion for golf, reading, gardening and was a talented stained glass craftsman. A memorial gathering with Lou's many friends will be held at a later date.
