MARY ANNE LEARY


MARY ANNE LEARY Mary Anne Leary, 81, died on Thursday, November 15, 2012, in Stuart. Mary Anne was born in Teaneck, N.J., daughter of William and Anna Tuite. She graduated from Teaneck High School and attended Lasell Junior College, where she majored in design and architecture, before attending Berkeley Secretarial School in New York. She married her high school sweetheart, Arthur John Leary, Jr., and traveled with him during his 23-year career in the United States Army. After Colonel Leary retired from military service in 1975, the Leary family made Stuart their home. She enjoyed traveling the world with friends, and was an active community volunteer for local programs promoting literacy. Her first priority was always her family, especially her grandchildren. Six of her children and grandchildren graduated from the University of Florida, and she shared their love of the Gators. Mary Anne was predeceased by her husband in 1982, and by her son Kevin, 56, who died unexpectedly on November 14, 2012. She is survived by seven children, Mary Anne Rosen (Michael), Patricia Peerman, Maureen Rigg, Cathleen Blackmon (Gary), Colleen Jochem, Arthur Leary, III, and Thomas Leary; and six grandchildren, Matthew Rosen (Jenni), Marisa Rosen, Alex Peerman, Allison Blackmon, Lillian Blackmon, and Faith Jochem. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, at Forest Hills Funeral Home, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, FL. A guestbook may be signed at www.ForestHills Funerals.com.
