Miguel Colón

Miguel Colón, 78, died April 25, 2013, at VNA Hospice House. He was born in Vieques, Puerto Rico, and lived in Vero Beach since 2009, coming from St. Croix, Virgin Islands. He retired after 15 years as a corrections officer with the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections. He was a veteran of the Army, having served in Vietnam, where he was a prisoner of war. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness and American Legion, Vero Beach. Survivors include his daughter, Maria Waleska Colón of Vero Beach; sons, Miguel Colón Jr. of St. Croix and Nikita Khruchev Colón of Puerto Rico; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Lenin Colón, in 1988. Services: Inurnment will take place in St. Croix at a later date. No local services will be conducted.
