Robert C. MacVeety Jr.

Robert C. MacVeety Jr., 87, died Jan. 19, 2013, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Fort Pierce for 23 years, coming from Newburgh, N.Y. He was a sales executive with the Hewlett-Packard Co. for over 30 years. He was an ensign in the Navy stationed in the Philippines at the end of World War II. He completed his engineering degree at the University of Michigan. He had a commercial pilot license and was a member of the Fort Pierce Yacht Club. He played the clarinet and the saxophone with several bands in Fort Pierce. He was also a vestryman at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Fort Pierce. Survivors include his wife, Ann MacVeety; son, Robert C. MacVeety III of Sheffield, Mass.; daughter, Glynis MacVeety of Pittsfield, Mass.; stepsons, Kenneth Ash of Alpharetta, Ga., and Carlton Ash of Syracuse, N.Y.; stepdaughter, Debbie Walsh of Ithaca, N.Y.; sister, Joan Sweet of Williamsburg, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Beth MacVeety; and stepson, William Ash. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 210 S. Indian River Dr., Fort Pierce, FL 34950.
