ULF O. JANSON Ulf O. Janson, 79, of Palm City, FL passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at his home. Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Ulf was proud to be selected to attend the University of Wisconsin
in Madison as a Brittingham Viking International scholar prior to joining his family's exporting business in Barranquilla, Colombia. He met the love of his life, Gracie, in Colombia where they lived for 27 years before moving to Miami, Florida. After selling his family business, Ulf became a serial globe trotter, as the executive of Uddeholm, an international steel company where Thailand, Singapore and Mexico were common stops. Upon his retirement, Ulf and Gracie moved to Mount Dora for six years before relocating to Palm City to be closer to family. Ulf enjoyed plotting exotic cruises and vacations for him and Gracie to enjoy, keeping up international relations through internet correspondence and relaxing with friends and family over lively dinner discussions paired with fine wines. He was a fun loving husband, father, and grandfather who stayed close to his many friends met throughout the world. He was an important mentor to his son, Lars, another serial globetrotter. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Gracie Janson of Palm City; a son, Lars A. Janson and his wife Karen of Sewall's Point; a sister Monica Hemberg of Halmstad, Sweden and a granddaughter, Chloe of Sewall's Point. Ulf was preceded in death by his parents Gosta and Margit Ecklund Janson of Stockholm, Sweden and his eldest son Nils O. Janson. SERVICES: There will be a Celebration of Life from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Forest Hills Funeral Homes Palm City Chapel.
