William De Rosa


WILLIAM DE ROSA William De Rosa passed away October 4, 2010. He was born in Orange, NJ, October 16, 1915. He was the son of Leopoldo De Rosa, Naples, Italy and Assunta Fabo, Prada, Italy. He resided in Longwood, FL for 60 years. His wife, Cola Myrtice, predeceased him as did his son, William Paul and his two step- children, Johnnie Kay Gurtner and Linder Scott. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia A. Blaga and son-in-law, John, who live in Sebastian, FL and 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. William retired after thirty years of service from the Naval Underwater Sound Reference Laboratory in Orlando, where he helped design and make classified instruments for submariners. Prior to that during WWII he worked in Washington, DC procuring and working to produce the guns for the war. He started the first Little League team in Longwood, FL by going to Mr. Casselberry of Casselberry, FL to help get the League started there. His talents were many. He was a long standing member of the Nativity Catholic Church in Longwood and a third degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Sanford, FL and a member of the Moose. He will be buried in the Longwood Cemetery next to his wife. Service will be at the cemetery on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 2:00 PM.
