Hufnagel, William J. - 89, of Franklin Lakes and Vero Beach, Florida passed away on September 18, 2013. Born and raised in Jersey City, he moved to Waldwick with his wife Eleanor and lived there before settling in Franklin Lakes 52 years ago. He served in the United States Navy
during World War II
and received his Bachelor's Degree from Seton Hall University. In 1969 he became a Burger King Franchisee and the founder of Food Service Properties, Corp. in Elmwood Park. William has been honored as a pioneer by the Burger King Corporation for all of his accomplishments building restaurants in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Seattle, Washington. William was a parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Franklin Lakes and Holy Cross Church in Vero Beach, Florida. He was also a Knight in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. William loved golf, tennis and platform tennis and was a member of the Arcola Country Club and a past member of the Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes and the Vero Beach Country Club and Moorings Club in Florida. Beloved husband of 63 years of Eleanor Y. Hufnagel (nee Young) of Franklin Lakes. Devoted father of Elizabeth O'Brien of North Wales, Pennsylvania, James Hufnagel of Franklin Lakes and Diann H. Isola and her husband Gregory of Kinnelon. Loving grandfather of Kelly Ann Drucker, William J. O'Brien, Sara Elizabeth Hufnagel, Emily Rose Hufnagel and Andrew James Isola and great-grandfather of Michael and Erica Drucker and Catherine, Patrick and Rebecca O'Brien. Dear brother of the late Florance Reid and survived by a niece, Carol Ann Lauffer. The Funeral Mass was held on Monday, September 23, 2013 at Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Franklin Lakes, NJ In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in William's memory to the Valerie Fund, 2101 Millburn Avenue, Maplewood, NJ 07040.
