Robert Shipper Obituary

Robert L. "Bob" Shipper, 88, died Sept. 12, 2011, at his home. He was born in Martinsburg, W.Va., and lived in Hobe Sound for 10 years, coming from Oxford, Mich. He received his law degree from Detroit College of Law and his master's degree in law from Michigan State University. Before retirement, he was a district judge for more than 30 years for the 52nd District Court in Oakland County, Mich. He was a member of the Rochester and Michigan Kiwanis Club, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Alzheimers Community Care, Retired Michigan Judges, Oakland County Bar Association and the Rochester Youth Guidance Committee. Survivors include his wife, Sue Shipper of Hobe Sound; son, Jeffrey Shipper of San Diego; daughter, Jennifer McKenzie of Morton, Ill.; stepson, Thomas Wrobel of Oxford, Mich.; stepdaughter, Amy Oakes of Alderson, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jayne Johnson. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Community Care, 800 Northpoint Parkway, Suite 101-B, West Palm Beach, FL 33407. Services: Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Sept. 19, with a memorial celebration at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Martin Funeral Home & Crematory in Stuart.
