EDWARD JOSEPH ALLEN Edward Joseph Allen, 79, of Lebanon, CT and Vero Beach, beloved husband for 55 years of Patricia (Swift) Allen, passed away on Friday, (December 6, 2013) at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. Edward enjoyed traveling domestically and internationally with his wife and friends, playing golf and tennis, and fishing at his lake home in Connecticut. An avid sports fan, Edward enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox and UConn Women's Basketball games. Most of all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Besides his wife Patricia, he leaves three daughters, Susan Donnelly of South Windsor, CT, Dianne Mullaney and her husband John of South Glastonbury, CT, and Lisa Steedman and her husband Chuck of Hopkinton, MA; seven grandchildren who he adored, Erin Donnelly, Sean Donnelly, Andrew Steedman, Michael Steedman, Lauren Mullaney, Taylor Mullaney, and Colin Mullaney; and many dear friends in Connecticut and Florida. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Major Michael W. Donnelly in 2005. A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated on Saturday, December 21, 11 a.m., at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Road, South Windsor, CT. Burial will be private.
