Richard E. "Rick" Agnew

Richard Agnew Obituary

Richard "Rick" E. Agnew died July 14, 2013, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart. He lived in Palm City for 13 years. After graduation, he entered the insurance business as a property and casualty underwriter for the Insurance Company of North America in New York City. Seven years later, he switched to the agency side in Long Island for 12 years, and then accepted an offer of partnership in a Greenwich, Conn., firm, where he became sole owner in 1988. He served as president of the Insurance Board of Greenwich. In 1981 he joined Burning Tree Country Club in Greenwich and held the chairs of greens, admissions, administration and president. He was a board member of the Westchester Senior Golf Association and a member of Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club in Palm City, where he served on the board of directors as chairman of golf and greens, and was a past president of Mariner Village. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Dolores; daughters, Kate Sullivan and Beth Rosenblum; brothers, Donald and Jeffrey Agnew; sister, Suzanne Steele; and four granddaughters. Services: A Mass will be celebrated at the Basilica of St. John in Stamford, Conn., at a later date. Arrangements are by Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Stuart.
