Adelaide Raggio Stuart Adelaide Dorothea Genelay Raggio, 85, passed peacefully on Jan 12, 2013. She was born in 1927 in Richmond Hill, Queens, N.Y., and moved to Stuart in 1975 with husband Robert. A graduate of Valley Stream Central HS, she and her sister Jeanette formed the Malverne Service Club during WWII, and sent letters and care packages to Long Island military personnel serving overseas. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Miles Grant Country Club and a genealogy enthusiast. She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, and belonged to the Saint Lucie River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Raggio; sister, Jeanette Ruth Schiffel; and grandson, Jason Ladd Hoffman. Survivors include daughters Carole Ann Kruger of Davidson, N.C. and Suzanne Fox of Palm City; grandson Matthew Thomas Hoffman of Vero Beach; and granddaughters Kira Fox of Palm City and Alyssa Fox of Christiansburg, V.A. Memorial contributions may be sent to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997. A gathering will be held on Friday 18 January 2013 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at Forest Hills Palm City Chapel, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City.
