ALEXANDER V. HOLEWINSKI, 78 of Vero Beach, Florida died August 8th, 2013. He was born to the late Chester and Sophie Holewinski, July 19, 1935 in Zawiercie, Poland. In 1946, Al together with his parents and sister, Eleanor, immigrated to New York City, settling in Brooklyn. During his youth, Al sold produce in his Brooklyn neighborhood using a borrowed horse and cart. In the late 1960's Al moved to Hollywood, Florida where he became a Master Plumber and Pipefitter with the Local 719 Union. He remained an active member until his death. He moved to Vero Beach in 1981 and split his time between Vero Beach and Todd, North Carolina. Al was a kind and peaceful man. He was an avid golfer and spent many hours "chasing the little white ball". Al is survived by two children: Alexander Holewinski and Elizabeth Lekanides, both of Vero Beach. Two grandchildren, Alexander J. Lekanides and Gavin R . Lekanides. In lieu of flowers, donations be made to
or Hospice of Indian River County, Florida. A memorial service will be held at Cox-Gifford Funeral Home at noon on Saturday, October 5th.
